Hi Dave You don't have to reload the page - you can refresh display instead. Put a refresh button anywhere you like... Like this: <<tiddler RefreshPageDisplay with: LabelHere>>

If you have the refreshbutton in the header - you first close one topics branch and then refresh display. Alle topics branches will close then... The same is true for the opposite procedure. Open one branch - click the refreshbutton you just made - and all topics branshes open...
