I think I would consider pre-generating the list of event dates, and storing them in a list field of your event. This would make it fairly easily to check whether your Koffee Klatch will be meeting on August 5, 2020.
The downside of this approach, compared to Google, is that it needs to be close-ended. Google can be open-ended because they've got massive computing power and database tools, so they could figure out whether your Yoga Pilates will clash with the Koffee Klatch in 2150 ... since you like to plan ahead.
