Abraham, Similar to the Open tab, yes, but there is a plugin (which I can't confirm where just now) that provides tabs at the top of the story for each Open tiddler, so you can access tiddlers that are already open while the sidebar is closed.
Given this may be a user configurable component, perhaps you do not need it, but I recommend trying it, I think it would be a nice way of working with this tool.
