If it helps I think of this method as;

   - Desktop interactive/Integrated/interaction
   - OS Integration
   - TW as a launcher
   - Locally interactive
   - Integrated with your desktop
   - With local access
   - Outside browser limitations


I am not sure about the TiddlyDesktop limitations you mention, perhaps give 
me more details so I may help.
