@Birthe

Mismanagement is the *real* cost in all this, taking money away from actual
care. Improvements, innovation, optimization come all stem from incentives,
typically financial ones, that are not present in public systems. In Sweden
we have examples from the public health care system that makes you drop
your jaw in disbelief. To name one: Stockholm recently finished building
the worlds(!) most expensive hospital
<https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karolinska_University_Hospital#New_Karolinska_Solna>.

The absolute idiots(!!!) in charge have wasted billions, billions and
billions of tax payer money for a disaster result. (I am not exaggerating.)
These people still have their jobs and their salary, paid by someone else.
This would be unthinkable if it were a private venture. The costs for the
state run mismanaged health care system have been so over budget that now,
with covid-19, there is no money for testing people... so WE IMMEDIATELY
DECIDED TO NOT TEST ANYBODY FOR CORONA VIRUS IN SWEDEN unless you are
already so ill that you need immediate care.

I'm *not* saying everything would be good if everything was private run.
But "something" happens if your salary depends on if you do good or not.
IMO it should be the states role to ensure that this "something" aligns
with the common good.
