It appears you need to alter some stylesheet properties to change the way the search box displays. This recent thread should help: http://tinyurl.com/y8pxqjd I haven't tried it, but the solutions offered there to someone who wanted to change the width of the box apparently worked. A lot depends on where you want the box to be, I think, in the same place or placed elsewhere.
