David I had a problem recently where something caused a whole lot of core and plugin tiddlers to become real tiddlers. It did not matter that I installed or reinstalled a plugin, I kept changing shadow tiddlers but there was no effect.
For any plugin not working as expected I check to see if any of its shadows listed in the plugin contents, are now tiddlers. Itallic I think. Perhaps not your issue but it was a lesson hard to learn.
