I still think, that yours overwrites some style definition anywhere. If you load my TestWide tiddler from the link it switches to wide. If you open other tiddlers it stays wide as long as TestWide is open. If you close TestWide it changes view to default. Also the ToggleLeft ToggleRight TopMenu buttons don't do anything if TestWide is open. Which is different to your version. If you change to presentation mode see: "apply" pMode it also works.
