Adding to Erics response most of the reasons we needed plugins in TWC no 
longer exist, they are part of the core, but if not, there is a full suit 
of existing TW5 plugins and solutions.

Of course using TWC we tended to build a lot of bespoke solutions. These 
are easier to re-build in TW5 and introduce many new possibilities, usualy 
it can all be done with wikitext, macros, filters and variables without 
touching any Javascript or building plugins. TWC in TiddlyDesktop along 
with TW5 wikis is a handy way to go, then systematically move you code and 
content to a new wiki through a redesign process.
