in TW syntax, a "PRE" block is created only when the {{{ and }}} are
on lines by themselves, with no leading or trailing whitespace (other
than the ending newline, of course). In constrast, when the {{{ and/
or }}} are followed by other content on the same line, e.g.
   {{{stuff on the same line
   that might continue on
   more lines and then ends}}}
then a "CODE" block is created (which uses a fixed-width font, but
word-wraps the text, rather than retaining all whitespace content as
is).
