In v5.1.23 we added a new $:/layout configuration tiddler that determines the current page layout. $:/core/ui/PageTemplate is still the default, but you can add your own by creating a custom template with the tag $:/tags/PageLayout (and “name” and “description” fields). In a future release we might ship alternative layouts in the core, but there’s nothing to stop others exploring alternative layouts now.
