If you look deeper you will find you can select different sizes and ico formats, the paid app also delivers SVG and other formats, however, I let you know about a free source from which you can drag and drop (offline), yes PNG by default, and I leave the appropriateness to the user to decide.
Mario's size comparison is a reminder of the size issue, but I would also argue "Horses for courses" such that a single icon dropped from this set and renamed $:/favicon.ico is a quick way to customise a wiki, and improve the browser tab appearance. Perhaps you select an image as a tiled background or site image (As Brian Pointed out). I am yet to consider (even) find the price of the paid version and possibly test it, I will provide an update / review if I do. TT, it is timely you share/re-share the https://morosanuae.github.io/tw-icons/ which I do not recall seeing before, there are others I have shared as well, do look into the details however before you write it off.
