I believe debugging your plugin is beyond my capabilities - however
I've been using Eric's SetTiddlerBackGround transclusion to add images
as well as colors.

Maybe you can see some logic in the combination of this tiddler and
the viewtemplate which includes this line at the bottom:
<span macro='tiddler Baggrunde' style='display:none'></span>
</div><span macro='tiddler Baggrunde##bag with:
{{store.getValue(tiddler,"billede")}}' style='display:none'></span>
<span macro='tiddler Baggrunde' style='display:none'></span>
