It looks like a recent change to disable the old import macro has removed code required to make the import tool work. I've just tried it and have gathered enough data to raise a ticket. I wouldn't know. I agree that the interface is a bit limited at this point. If it were working, after the file completed uploading, you would be presented with the traditional import wizard which allows you to select which tiddlers you would like to keep.
