Your'e trying it with MS IE?
For me, the plugin works with queries like
<<SQLQuery sql:"select testCol1 from testTable" connection:testDSN>>
No backticks around the table name.
In SQLConfig, I have:
testDSN: DRIVER={SQL
Server};SERVER=DBServer;DATABASE=testDB;UID=testUser;pwd=testPW;
