Tobias, A Simile timeline can consist of any number of bands. Usually, these are narrow/broad timescale from the same data source as suggest.
However, I think the timeline is far more useful when multiple event sources are compared (mashups) within the same time window. See http://www.simile-widgets.org/timeline/examples/religions/religions.html for an example. The tiddlywiki plugin would appear to support these multiple events can be specified (band0.eventSourceParams, band1.eventSourceParams & band2.eventSourceParams are processed; also event eventSource is defined is an array) but the underlying code in the plugin is not interpreting this correctly for the timeline functions.
