I came to think combining FAQViewer and RecentChanges plugins to one
new 'ViewerPlugin' would have much merit:
As they are now, they are each useful for very specific cases and have
only few available options each. Combined their total size would be
less, and would have much more versatile use-cases as both plugins
together now. In short:
Main common function:
* preview of tiddlers in containing element
* optional assignment of custom style to preview output
FAQViewer only functions:
* selection list of all tiddlers in alphabetical order (with the use
of a dummy tag)
* ability to narrow the list to available tags or search items
* automatic display of selected, or optional, predefined tiddler in
containing element
* option to list tiddlers by specific tags only
* option to predefine the order in the tiddler list by any field (and
reverse)
* if a 'Definition' slice exist, only this is shown in the tiddler
selector list
RecentChanges only functions:
* selection list of all tiddlers in modified order (by using the
option to reach back in time to include all tiddlers)
* additional to tiddler title the modified date is displayed in
tiddler selector list
* display of selected tiddler upon choosing between opening directly
in 'edit', or 'view' mode in tiddler display area, or in the
containing element ('preview' mode)
* optionally hidden 'edit' button
Combined all existing and adding the following options would make it
to a real allround 'ViewerPlugin':
* options for choosing between selection lists of tiddlers by tag,
modified or size directly from the interface, or via macro parameters
* options for automatic preview, or selectors for edit, view or
preview
* optional display of 'Description' slice in tiddler selection list
* goto input box working independently for 'preview' in containing
element
For the interface I would additionally like to suggest the option of
nested popups for aestetic reasons, though this would really be a
minor additional wish:
By clicking a '$1' botton only the following would show in the fist
popup (besite the automatic display of any tiddler in any element, if
so predefined):
* by title
* by tag
* by size
Upon selecting one of those items the tiddlers selection list would
show in a nested popup. And for 'by tag' one additional level of a
nested popup in-between with all tags (or specified tags only).
Upon finally choosing the tiddler title a last nested popup to choose
from:
* view
* edit
* preview
Each optional selector should be possible to disable with macro
parameters.
