Hi FrD This issue is probably caused by your couchdb version.
...there are reports that the default couchdb installed on Ubuntu (and from the Ubuntu Software Center) is too old. I cannot confirm if replacing Ubuntu's default version with a new couchdb is breaking existing settings in your Ubuntu-setup.(I don't use Ubuntu...) ...
