Good idea, but alas, didn't work :-( I'm pretty sure it has something to do with StyleSheetTiddlySpace because when I remove the "system-theme" from the included spaces list the problem goes away (but then so does the cool looking theme).
I couldn't find anything obvious to a non programmer among the 16 or so references to the word "popup", so I'll just start commenting out portions of it and see what happens. My other idea was to figure out how to switch themes (there must be a way) and then compare this theme with others that don't create the problem. I'll post the answer if I find it for others' future reference.
