thanks Eric, learning through mistakes :)

Using a text editor is part of the problem, but really it's because I am 
not creating a separate tiddler for my items, thereby having them 
overwritten. Thanks for the suggestion for the StyleSheet tiddler, I will 
put everything in there. I assume that doesn't get overwritten by the 
update?
