I've been using TiddlyWiki from my hosting for about 6 months now, very happily. It has been PW protected and I have been happily logging in, adding info - saving - and always able to re-visit my notes. Truly it is a marvelously helpful tool !!!
At one point (at my office) there was a trial of DSL instead of cable and things went strange, but then back to normal when the DSL trial was ended. The main symptom was the disappearance of the backstage and saving to the hosting became very unreliable. And then it was over and things got nicely & boringly normal again - a real pleasure... BUT: Just lately my hosting provider went bad (as they often seem to do...) and I needed to get my data off there as well as being forced to migrate to another domain altogether. I zipped up & downloaded my TWHome folder - opened it in my windows PC and searched all the tiddlers for occurences of my former domain name - replacing that with the corrected domain name. Saved it locally, re-zipped & then uploaded it to the new hosting. It went all screwy !!! The Backstage vanished, saving doesn't work, and internal settings have changed - worst of all, the file & folder permissions didn't stay the same and what is allowed differs from host to host as far as public/online access is concerned. I dilligently searched all my tiddlers for clues as to what may be fixed and haven't had success finding & fixing whatever went screwy yet. Having said all that - I am hoping for some help & guidance here so the I may resume using my wonderful TiddlyWiki, please ?!? 1. I originally used the Tiddly Home System to start, and could never quite figure out all of it's settings=> is there any guide or tutorial in existence to help dummies like myself use it correctly ?? 2. Is there any sure way - perhaps instructions to help in migrating a TiddlyWiki successfully from a domain to another domain ?? 3. Several times I've looked at Simon Baird's MPTW and specifically at his MptwConfigPlugin: http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/#MptwConfigPlugin Can that and it's associated stuff help in a situation like mine ?? 4. I tried the EnableEdit bookmarklet by Saq Imtiaz - and it worked to restore the Backstage - but I am stuck at how to save this and make it work from my hosted space - would someone please explain this process for me ?? I'll stop here though I can probably come up with more confused questions to ask - I hope my queries are answerable ?!?!?
