That's the version of TiddlyFox available from the official Firefox Add-Ons site. Might want to try updating the version there if it has issues? Although maybe updating there is a bit of a hassle? I recall something about other add-ons having issues updating on Mozilla's official site... Ah, I really don't know though.
Anyways, I updated TiddlyFox. Hopefully that will stop this from happening again... I'll admit to being a little afraid ever since this happened that I'll go through the trouble of fixing everything just for it to get corrupted again! Hopefully not. As far as recovering the corrupted characters, don't worry about it. I found a shadow copy of the file that, while outdated in many ways, luckily contained all the irreplaceable stuff that I wouldn't have been able to redo. I backed it up in another program that is very much multilingual so I won't loose it again. There's still stuff that was lost and my work's been delayed but ultimately no permanent dents in my project!
