Just to keep my current TW5 project moving forward I implemented a <$blankview> plugin.
It works just like a normal view, if there is no content to return it places a <notspan></notspan> instead of a <span> element. I also extended it to accept a class attribute and attach it to the resulting elements .. <notspan> and <span> This gave me better specificity with regard to CSS selection. I am still interested in whether a normal view should return a <span> when empty or not .. as usual I suspect only one man knows ... Jeremy?
