Hi Simon I'm sorry you've been having troubles.
To save changes in TiddlyWiki5 you just need to click the right-hand of the three white icons in the sidebar - it's the one that looks like an arrow pointing into a box. Then the browser will attempt to download the modified TiddlyWiki5 file as a new file. Typically that means that the file is dumped into your downloads folder, often with an unrecognisable name. Better is to configure your browser to prompt for the location of downloaded files. With that setting, clicking "save" will cause the browser to prompt for the filename, giving you an opportunity to select the previous version of the file and replace it. That technique works on essentially all modern browsers. Managing the file location is clearly a bit of a hassle, so many users optimise the experience by using TiddlyFox with Firefox, which makes saving a simple one-click affair.
