Like a lot of people I really cannot work without Tiddlysnip. How useful to just do right click, save page or url or section and then see it as a Tiddler complete with source link. However, firefox has developed whereas some plugins have not and there has not been anything to replace them - imagine not being able to edit your TW anymore, crazy.
This is what I do. I use Sandboxie for most of my browsing because it protects my real hard drives from the rubbish that get's downloaded via the browser. Basically it creates a "virtual" operating system that fools programs into thinking they are talking to your actual C drive instead of a special sandboxed version. Now the great thing is that you can install a program into it without infecting your C drive. So I install Firefox 16 into the Sandbox drive and then the Tiddlysnip plugin and the Tiddlyfox for editing. The only pain is to remember to transfer copies out of the sandbox into my Dropbox folder when I want to access my TWs from another place. Yesterday I was looking at an older copy of a TW from another computer because I had forgotten to do just that. Also you have to remember to set Firefox to Never upgrade and to create a shortcut from your sandboxed firefox. So now I have 2 versions of Firefox - the latest one on my real C drive and the TW one in the Sandbox. I only use the latest one when I have to access online banking and the like cos it is supposed to be more secure! You can of course continue to use Firefox 16 and never upgrade but I don't think that is a good idea. Sandboxie is free to use without the extras. Every now and again you should completely delete the entire Sandbox contents to clean out the inevitable junk (after you copy your TW files out of it). -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group.
