Hi Leo Your conclusion is correct: there's no general way to infer the fields to assign to a new tiddler to ensure that it appears in the output of a given filter.
A related ability is very much intentionally built into TW5: the ability to have "substories" displayed within a tiddler. The substory displays a list of tiddlers complete with navigation and editing. @skeeve - was it you that posted an example of the technique? I should probably add it to tw.com.
