Hi UBi Good question. It's a hangover from the very early days of TW5, where I was tending to stick to TWC norms where they seemed to apply.
I think we probably should change it $:/SiteTitle and $:/SiteSubtitle. The core could still ship SiteTitle and SiteSubtitle as shadow tiddlers that just transclude the respective system equivalent, to help upgrading. Best wishes Jeremy.
