Finally took a moment to play with the Timeline widget. Very nice! Thank you emkay, you are o-kay in my book!
I put in a topmenu, hid the sidebar and widened the story river to 100% to take advantage of the horizontal layout of the timeline. Here is the beginning of an experiment with that layout: http://giffmex.org/cronos/cronosnt.htm I second the earlier comments that having a way to do BCE dates would be great. Since I do some stuff with ancient near eastern history I will need that. I will try the formatting you mentioned.
