Greetings TiddlyFriends!

Back in February, I hosted a week-long "mini-marathon" of daily TiddlyWiki
Clinic sessions on Google Hangout. In addition to providing live help,
discussion, instruction and problem-solving for people currently using
TiddlyWiki Classic and/or migrating to TiddlyWiki5 (now in beta), the
Clinic sessions also served as a fund-raising drive, and people were
encouraged to make donations to help support continued development and
assistance for TiddlyWiki Classic and TiddlyWiki 5.

Although participation and donations from those Clinic sessions was good,
the timing (1pm-3pm Monday-Friday and noon on Saturday) was not
particularly convenient for some people to attend, and turnout was somewhat
limited as a result. To address this, I'm trying a different strategy that
may allow more people to actively participate in Clinic sessions. Rather
than trying to find the time to attend a previously planned Clinic session,
you can now simply request a TiddlyWiki Clinic session to get live help
with your TiddlyWiki projects *** whenever works best with your personal
schedule! ***

To schedule a TiddlyWiki Clinic session:
----------------------------------------------------------
* Start by posting a "Request For Clinic" message to this GoogleGroup,
using [RFC] in the subject heading.
* In the body of the RFC post, outline the areas of interest you want to
focus on as well as several specific times that you can be available to
attend a live Clinic session of at least 30 minutes, up to a maximum of 2
hours.
* You should post your request at least few days ahead of the desired
time(s) so that I can plan my daily activities as far in advance as
possible.
* I check these groups actively several times every day, and will usually
see your RFC message within a few hours of posting.
* If I am not already otherwise committed to something else, I will respond
to your RFC indicating we can meet at the requested day and time or suggest
some other times that work better for me. With sufficient notice, I can
schedule late night/early morning sessions, but I would prefer to work
during "normal" daytime hours (8am-8pm). Keep in mind the time zone
differences (I am in US "Pacific" time zone, UDT-8).

To prepare for a TiddlyWiki Clinic session:
-------------------------------------------------------------
* If there are specific materials you want to work with during the Clinic,
you should prepare them ahead of time by either uploading your document(s)
to a hosted server (e.g., tiddlyspot, tiddlyspace, dropbox, etc.) or
arrange to send them directly to me via email attachment or private dropbox
link.
* If your materials contain sensitive private information that you don't
wish to share, you should try to create separate "minimal test case" (MTC)
documents that use fake data to illustrate the problem or design issues you
are facing, so that they can be safely displayed and viewed by others
during the live Clinic session.
* Shortly before the agreed upon timeslot, I will start a Google Hangout
and post the link to the Clinic session as a follow-up response so that
other people who may have similar problems or questions can also attend and
share in the discussion and any resulting solutions that may be
demonstrated.

Please remember that, in addition to providing assistance, the Clinic
sessions are also intended as a FUNDRAISING PLEDGE DRIVE. The more often
Clinic sessions are held, the more direct value I can deliver to the
TiddlyWiki community as whole. This should, in turn, encourage people to
make more frequent and generous voluntary donations. Ideally, I'd like to
host 2 or 3 Clinic sessions each week, with an initial target goal of
generating at least $50 per session.

So, start submitting your "Request for Clinic" posts today, and encourage
others to do so as well. With enough active participation and donations,
it is my hope that ongoing Tiddlywiki Clinic sessions might become a
self-sustaining activity that enables me to continue to deliver assistance
to the TiddlyWiki community for the "the next 25 years".
