I learned from a colleague, who is a technical writer, that you should think about why you think there is the need for a line break. One should not think so much about the *representation* of the information, but about the *semantic, *the* meaning* of it. I couldn't come up with an example where a linebreak carried any meaning (except in code blocks, but that's another story).
