If I write:

\define nexttag(now)
[list[Daylist]after[$(now)$]][list[Daylist]first[]]+[first[]]
\end

seems to work fine :-)

@cmari - Matabele's widgets: mangletags and setfield are very powerfull 
indeed - Nice to see how you make them work in this context!! :-)
