Update: I think I found what's causing the problem for me. It is my cookie settings in Firefox:
the error message occurs if the cookie settings are set to never allow cookies - or if they are set to always ask. If I set my cookie settings to allow all cookies, saving tiddly wiki works flawlessly. Also, if I set an exception to always allow cookies from "tiddlywiki.com", I can edit tiddlers on that website without problems. However, Firefox doesn't allow me to set such an exception for local files. So I would still have to allow cookies globally in order to be able to use a local tiddly wiki.
