I didn't say it was pretty :) I was using it to break up text as I read it, in pretty much the way Alex described and then the bits I wanted to edit further, I would grab the text from the view and paste it over all the garbage in the edit window. It would only work for plain text. I know it's not classy - it's quick and dirty but sometimes dirty solutions are sufficient ;)
