Just so I understand your intention correctly, you want to put something inside a tiddler in your wiki that queries another wiki somewhere on the web for its version number without you manually visiting its address in the browser, correct? May I ask why you'd want that? Or is this more of an exercise, you wanting to know what works and what doesn't?
