Hi Richard The controversial thing (for some people!) about BitTorrentSync is that it is not open source (albeit it is free). The alternative that I've been experimenting with is SyncThing:
http://syncthing.net It's not quite as easy to set up as Dropbox, but once it's up and running it seems to be pretty straightforward. Best wishes Jeremy.
