You don't actually "adjust the field"... it contains a numeric value the
represents the date/time.
What you want to do is change the way that field is viewed in your output.
To do this, use the <$view> widget, like this:
<$view field="created" format="date" template="DD MMM YYYY 0hh:0mm"/>
