Spontaneously, I'd say this is a browser issue and you'll probably find better info merely googling <https://www.google.se/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=suppress%20new%20tab%20clicking%20link> than in this group. Or do I misunderstand your question - is it really a TW issue?
