I'm using Keyboard Snippets plugin (
http://braintest.tiddlyspot.com/#keyboard-snippets) to create custom
shortcuts for katex.
For example I use
"alt+x" : { "pre":"$$", "post":"$$"}
for inline mode and
"alt+c" : { "pre":"<div style='text-align:center'>\n$$\\displaystyle ",
"post":"$$\n</div>"}
for centered mode.
By the way, katex version v0.5.1 with math fonts support is available :)
