Hi Andrew, As a sidenote, not wanting to discourage you from exploring plugins, I would advise you to consider not publishing this as a plugin:

Imho, using a plugin for this type of modification blows the concept of plugins out of proportion. If you desire to further discuss this, perhaps open another thread.
