That removes any visual feedback about what is currently happening. If the 
visual feedback is all done in the dom than if the dom refreshes 
mid-operation there will probably be weird behavior. Without visual 
feedback than all we would need is a way to pick out the list item under 
the cursor at mousedown and the item under the cursor at mouseup.
I like visual feedback, but it may not be practical if it slows things down 
too much.
