Great, glad you're giving TW another try. I'm assuming the problem you describe occurs when you use http://tiddlywiki.com. Can you also try http://tiddlywiki.com/empty.html and see if things work as expected? I'm not quite sure what's going on; I do my testing on a Mac, and tiddlywiki.com works OK there on Chrome, Chrome Canary and Chromium. Having said that, Chrome Canary fairly regularly ships updates that are completely broken, maybe it's worth trying a different version if you can?
