You can do a search here for 'file size' or 'filesize' to see previous
discussions, but the short answers I am aware of are these:

1) the # of tiddlers shouldn't affect things. Some people have thousands of
tiddlers. I have seen the entire content of the Bible in a TiddlyWiki, one
tiddler per chapter and one or two tags per tiddler, and it functioned
quite rapidly.

2) One thing that affects speed more is the number and complexity of list
filters. A couple times I have tried to implement view template tiddlers
that display a list of tiddlers dependent on the open tiddler. The list
displayed not only the title of the tiddlers but also their tags and
content. Obviously as you add dependent tiddlers, those lists get longer
and the display has to refresh as tiddlers are added. So that approach I
was using resulted in my files showing down after only a couple hundred
tiddlers.

3) Images that are fully added into TiddlyWiki as image tiddlers slow
TiddlyWiki very quickly. Using image links to access images that are stored
in other locations should not do that, though.
