All such ways get us time before Firefox goes WebExtensions only, later this year.
So its simply that other routes like yours give some breathing space. The problem with parallel developments is they do not keep up with the actual force forward that is happening. They will ALL fail long term. Personally I use Firefox ESR as a kinda compromise between using systems that become insecure and Firefox head on that is creating so much hassle for add-ons. IMO Firefox has shot itself in the foot. Its made Extension Developers life very, very hard. Yet Firefox Extensions were its bread-and-butter. Everyday its market share is now twindling.
