Browser security won't let you access a local file. TiddlyWiki on node.js (TON) doesn't have a file server, so non-embedded images and files are not available. You could run a separate file server, but then you would to put a specific address for your special local server. The address would be meaningless if you exported the TW as a free-standing file (unless you kept the file server running also).
IMO, not being able to access local images and files limits the utility of TON. I can only assume that the people using node.js are doing so as a text-only application.
