I don't know what the original thinking about GG was, but if you're 
thinking about other forum software (e.g. bbphp) then keep in mind that 
someone has to install it, initialize a database, apply patches, purge old 
users, and make upgrades. If it's hacked, it might have to be shut down 
until fixed. It's much easier to just let Google handle the hassle.

The .tc classes let people who are good at CSS do all sorts of things. TW 
automatically adds classes based on tags (i.e. .tc-<tagname>) which means 
you can change the look of a tiddler just by adding a tag.
