Mat "versioning" is slightly ambiguous in application. Usually it refers to a system that has an "inbuilt method of recovery" ... i.e. the interface itself lets you go back. NoteSelf (or, rather, CouchDB) has that. But TiddlyDesktop and other saving mechanisms have Redundant Backup, which is similar, but no interface for.
In some ways "Redundant Backup" might be more accurate to what goes on in TW.
