Mark, if you're still around and remember this...

regarding this line:
\define cat-count-origin() <$text text="[[$(count)$-$(origin)$]]"/>

that outputs plain text.  How would I get the origin to be listed as a 
link?  I tried

\define cat-count-origin() <$text text="[[$(count)$-[[$(origin)$]]]]"/>

but that didn't work.  I also tried \]\] to escape the extra right hand 
brackets, but that didn't work.  I also tried {{ and }}, but that didn't 
work either.
