The wiki you link to, i.e http://mcell.org/tutorials_old/tlist.htm is an old TW2 wiki. We're now on TW5 which is fundamentally different, from a coding point. Some of the things you state in your post don't quite make sense so I suspect you're playing around with a TW2 wiki.
