Remove $lightgrey$ and $yellow$ -- they'll just distract you.

So, did you:

1. Make a class "yellow" ?
2. Put the value "yellow" in the "tablecolor" field of your "Person 1" 
tiddler?
3. Make sure all tiddlers are out of edit mode (so changes will propagate) ?
