Mark, You can embed even a text file. Its just a way of making external content available.
I am not sure if its loaded at wiki load or only when the tiddler is rendered but I assume the latter. I am still exploring a fuller use of html because as long as it does not need JavaScript the browser responds as it would any other html delivered on any website.
